Lake Baikal - is the deepest lake on Earth (1642 m) of tectonic origin in the southern part of Eastern Siberia. It the largest natural reservoir of freshwater in the world (about 19% of the world's fresh water lake). Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Baikal is home to more than 1,700 species of plants and animals, two thirds of which can be found nowhere else in the world.
